Brief Bio:
Dr. Boaz Kahana is professor of psychology and serves on the graduate as well as undergraduate faculty of CSU. Dr. Kahana joined the department of psychology in 1984 and served as chair from 1984-1987. He was director of the Center for Applied Gerontological Research from 1997-1998. Dr. Kahana has published extensively in the fields of mental health and clinical psychology of aging, trauma survivorship (focusing on both cancer survivors and Holocaust survivors), and on stress, coping and health. His recent publications deal with planning for end of life care, successful aging among the chronically ill, the mental health of elderly cancer survivors, and late life adaptation of Holocaust survivors.

Dr. Kahana served as president of the Ohio Network of Gerontological Consultants in Aging and has been honored with the Heller Award for excellence in Gerontological research. He has been a peer reviewer for the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Institute of Aging. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Society and the Gerontological Society of America. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Aging and Mental Health.

Dr. Kahana teaches courses in abnormal psychology, psychology of aging, and mental health and aging. He also supervises independent studies and masters and doctoral dissertations, in psychology and allied disciplines.
