Brief Bio:
Dr. Boitel is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work. He teaches courses in several curricular areas and his practice, teaching and research interests include clinical social work, field education, child welfare, evaluation of learning and teaching, and program evaluation. Prior professional experience includes employment at Berea Children's Home and the Department of Psychiatry at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Dr. Boitel has held academic and administrative appointments in social work at several universities, including Case Western Reserve, where he was also a member of the medical school faculty, University of Pittsburgh , Bryn Mawr, and University of Akron. While at CWRU, he served as the Assistant Director of Field Education, chaired the Mental Health Concentration and was Director of Evaluation for the Ability Based Learning Program. His work with the University of Pittsburgh included serving as the Director of Research for the state of Pennsylvania 's Child Welfare Training Program.

He is a Licensed Independent Social Worker - Supervisor (LISW-S Ohio), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW - Pennsylvania), a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work, and maintains a private practice in psychotherapy.
 
Honors and Awards:
(2003) Learning Fellowship, University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education, Case Western Reserve University, fall 2003 semester. (Deferred due to employment change)
