Brief Bio:
Throughout the course of my 12-year teaching career, I have enhanced the courses I teach through innovative and engaging techniques such as:

Learning Communities. Learning communities are designed for incoming freshmen seeking a fun, interactive and cohesive transition to university life. Together with university-wide faculty, I worked together to create a cohort course with a global theme that included a service-learning component.
Real-world Case Curriculum. Whenever possible, I incorporate real-world case studies and problems into my course curriculum, such as the Cooperstown Cookie Company. In 2007, the founder and president contacted me regarding expansion strategy for their products into Latin America. My students were tasked with this challenge; they developed solutions and then presented them to the CEO.

Student Competitions. I've integrated competitions such as McGraw Hill's RED Challenge into my courses. Students were tasked with designing a product for the RED campaign specifically targeted toward college students. The students competed in class, and the winner (selected by myself and fellow colleagues) was submitted to the contest. They earned an honorable mention out of 200 nation-wide submissions.

Online Student Simulations and Course Management. Student simulations support learning through real-world strategies. Mike┬┐s Bikes is an online simulation that I have used for this purpose. In 2011, one of the teams in my Principles of Marketing course was ranked nationally, in the top 10 schools, for their performance in this simulation. Additionally, I routinely use web management platforms such as Blackboard to manage course content and administration.

In addition to a wide array of techniques in the classroom, I have participated in extensive course development activities, including 10 study-aboard trips, and numerous international business related courses. Study tours have spanned five countries and included visits to over 30 multinational organizations including The Cleveland Clinic, Lubrizol, Publicis, Sherwin Williams, and Grand Marnier to name a few. Moreover, I am currently spearheading a recruitment effort in GCC countries, specifically targeting the UAE.

Coupled with a commitment to student success through engaged learning, I dedicate myself to service initiatives that benefit my department, my college, and the institution as a whole. These include curriculum development at the undergraduate and graduate level, participation on search committees, advisory committees, hearing boards, as well as active participation in professional development conferences and seminars that develop and maintain links between the college and the external community.

Lastly, as a licensed customs broker I am able to enhance student learning through hands-on client work with local businesses and government offices. Aa a customs broker, I advise local businesses on how best to mitigate risk, all while working on behalf of Customs and Border Protection.
