| Brief Bio: |
| Guowei Jian, Associate Professor in the Communication Management Division, has been with Cleveland State University since 2003.
Dr. Jian's area of interest is in organizational communication. His research focuses on workplace participation and control in processes of organizational change and the deployment and use of information and communication technologies (ICTs). He is especially interested in developing process theories that attempt to capture the dynamic and emergent nature of human communication and organizing in/with which technology is embedded and intertwined. His current research projects examine work practices of telecommuting (also known as telework and ework). Dr. Jian's research interests also include intercultural communication in organizational settings. His current project in this area examines the effects of acculturation of immigrants in the U.S. on their work relationships.
Dr. Jian teaches at both graduate and undergraduate levels in such areas as organizational communication theories, team communication and leadership, training and development, and both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
On the applied side, he conducts consulting programs on Business Communication in China.
Coming to us all the way from Beijing, China, he enjoys reading, skating, photography and traveling. |

| Dr. Jian teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses. As a graduate faculty, he has taught Organizational Communication Theory, Qualitative Research Methods, and Pro Seminar in Communication. At the undergraduate level, he has taught Training and Development, Small Group Communication and Leadership, Organizational Communication, Research Methods, and Public Speaking. |
