Brief Bio:
Dr. Jinhee Kim joined the faculty of School of Communication at Cleveland State University in August, 2008, after working as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Kent State University.

Her research program explores media issues pertaining to emotion, race and gender with a social psychological approach. She is interested in examining media use behavior with the purpose of mood regulation and coping, appeal of romance movie genres, and content of media stereotypes of ethnic minorities (e.g., Asians and Asian-Americans) and its effects on viewers. Her recent research looked at media choice behavior to cope with negative discrete emotions (e.g., sadness) and breakups, co-viewing effects in enjoyment and learning, and methodological implications of different mood-induction procedures. Her work has been presented at International Communication Association and Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication and published in Social Cognition and Communication, Psychology of Entertainment, and Sexuality & Culture.

She is currently teaching COM 226 Mass Media & Society and COM 303 Communication Inquiry.
