| Brief Bio: |
| Terri L. Purcell, PhD., is Associate Professor in Literacy Education in the Department of Teacher Education at Cleveland State University (CSU), Cleveland, OH. Before joining CSU in 2002, Dr. Purcell worked for ten years in the public schools in North Carolina and Virginia, serving as an elementary teacher, reading specialist, intervention specialist, and educational consultant. Currently, Dr. Purcell serves as a Co-Director of the Reading First-Ohio Center which provides reading and technical support to teachers and schools throughout Ohio. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Purcell served as director of the Early Reading First Program at CSU, working closely with Head Start teachers, children, and parents to enhance the quality of language and literacy experiences for young children. She has written articles and book chapters on early literacy intervention practices, literacy coaching, and professional development in literacy for preschool and elementary teachers. |
