Brief Bio:
Dean Vera Vogelsang-Coombs is a political scientist who specializes in public administration.  She is a recognized expert in the areas of mayoral and city council leadership, city management, performance measurement, public administration, and democratic governance.

Before her appointment as Dean of Graduate Studies, she was the director of the Master of Public Administration (MPA)Program at the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs of  Cleveland State University.  US News and World Report has ranked the MPA Program as #2 in the nation in city management and urban policy. She also was the director of Leadership Programs at the Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University.

Prior to joining CSU, she was the Minnesota State Training Manager and worked in partnership with 132 state agencies to develop programs and administer policies for 39,000 state employees.  In 1991, she was president of the National Association of Government Training and Development Directors (NAGTADD), which was a professional association affiliated with the Council of State Governments.

Between 1982 and 1988, she was a faculty member and founding director of the Master of Arts Program in Public Administration (MAPA) at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota.  

While at Hamline, she founded the Minnesota Center for Women in Government.  Each year the Center awards the Susan B. Anthony Award to an outstanding Minnesota leader and the Gladys S. Brooks Scholarship to an outstanding woman interested in enrolling in Hamline University's MPA program.
