Brief Bio:
Dr. Kocher has been teaching environmental engineering for over 27 years.  He served as the Academic Advisor for the Pollution Prevention Program of the Cleveland Advanced Manufacturing Program during the 1990s.  He has directed numerous projects dealing with pollution prevention, life cycle assessment and sustainable development at the NASA Glenn Research Center for 10 years, serving as the Academic Director of Sustainability for NASA the last 5 years.   He has worked on several environmental projects, including radioactive waste treatment and management systems, air pollution modeling, and innovative hazardous waste treatment systems.   The streamlined life cycle assessment tool that he developed is used by NASA, and that tool was further developed into an Environmentally Preferred Product Plus online system, where off-the-shelf product are evaluated for specific uses through the life cycle assessment process.
