Brief Bio:
Dr. McIntyre is a Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Health Sciences and a member of the Graduate Faculty. She also serves the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program as the Director of Clinical Education (DCE), a role she has held since 2011.  Her primary areas of teaching in the DPT program include clinical education, professional issues, and management of patients with multi-system dysfunction in the acute setting. Dr. McIntyre is credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association's (APTA) Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program (CCIP) at Level 1 and 2. She is also a Credentialed Trainer for the Level 1 CCIP Program, and has taught the course to local clincians since 2013. In addition, Dr. McIntyre has spoken on several topics in clinical education including the Collaborative Model, Questioning Techniques, Effective Student Evaluation Using PT CPI Web, Management of Performance Issues in Clinical Education, and Efficient Clinical Teaching.      

Dr. McIntyre has been licensed as a physical therapist since 2000, and her primary clinical expertise includes the evaluation and treatment of individuals across the lifespan in the acute care hospital environment (including the adult and pediatric intensive care units and the neonatal ICU).  She has also spent some time in outpatient working with pediatric and adult clients. Professionally, she is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and active with the Ohio Chapter.  She currently serves on the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers (OTPTAT) Board as Chair of the PT Section. At the national level, she serves on the Re-entry Demographics Task Force for the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) and on the Compliance Committee for the PT Compact.

Her research interests are focused on the scholarship of teaching and learning (including clinical education), health disparities, and acute care physical therapy practice.

-examination of a centralized consortium network placement process for DPT student clinical education
-experiences of DPT students related to perfectionism and imposter syndrome
-experiential learning experiences (specifically examining student perspectives of a collaborative student PT & PTA clinic; using visual arts to stimulate reflection and growth in students)
-international service learning (development of occupational identity/self through experiences; use of visual methods in design)
-other clinical education experiences (satisfaction with pro bono services provided by students/faculty; remediation of students with problems in clinical performance)
