Brief Bio:
Professor Wertheimer joined the department in the Fall of 1999 to teach courses in Medieval European History. She completed her doctoral degree program at the University of California Santa Barbara in Fall 2000. Her research has explored various aspects of medieval and late antique culture, including the development of Christian marriage, the formation of clerical identity, and the manipulation of sanctity by both clergy and laity. Her most recent article, entitled "Clerical Dissent, Popular Piety, and Sanctity in Fourteenth-Century Peterborough," appeared in the Journal of British History. At CSU, Prof. Wertheimer teaches both general and specialized courses in medieval history as well as Western Civilization. Her coming to Ohio represents a homecoming as she did her undergraduate work at Miami University.
