Brief Bio:
Marian Bleeke joined the faculty at CSU in August 2007, before which she taught at the State University of New York at Fredonia, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Beloit College, and Columbia College Chicago. A specialist in the art of the Middle Ages she teaches Introduction to Early Western Art along with courses in Medieval and Islamic art, Women in Art,and Contemporary Critical Theory.  Her research to date has on using medieval art as a source for understanding the lives and experiences of medieval women.  Her current work focuses on ivory as a material used in art-making in the Gothic period of the Middle Ages and the late nineteenth through early twentieth centuries.
