Brief Bio:
Dr. Thrash received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati in 2003. His prior research activities have focused in the areas of adsorption, biofuels, biological modeling and stochastic simulation. Dr. Thrash's research has helped to secure over $400,000 in collaborative funding from the NSF, the Portuguese FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology) and internal university funding sources. His research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals and he has presented his work at international conferences in the United States and also in Europe.

Dr Thrash's teaching activities include courses such as material/energy balances, biochemical engineering, biomedical engineering, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, linear algebra, process controls, kinetics lab, MATLAB programming and introduction to engineering for first year students.

In addition to his academic experience, Dr. Thrash also accrued several years of experience working in industry for companies such as Procter & Gamble and Rockwell Automation before pursuing his Ph.D. While in industry Dr. Thrash worked in the area of process controls. During that time he gained considerable experience working with Honeywell Distributed Control Systems(DCS), Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers(PLC) and various types of process instrumentation.
