Brief Bio:
Dr. Ping Deng graduated from Renmin University of China, Beijing with law degree (1990) and earned M.A. (1997) and Ph.D. (1998) in international business studies and strategy from Old Dominion University, USA. He is Monte Ahuja Chair of Global Business (through 2023) and tenured full professor at the Monte Ahuja College of Business (fully accredited by AACSB International), Cleveland State University (CSU), Ohio, USA. The designation of the Monte Ahuja Chair (the highest academic honor at CSU) recognizes Dr. Deng's eminence and intellectual leadership to enhance the national and international reputation of the College and the University. Before joining CSU in August 2013, he was a tenured full professor of business administration and served as special assistant to the President on the internationalization at Maryville University of St. Louis, MO, a highly ranked national university.

Dr. Deng's research focuses on innovation, global business, small business management, and emerging market companies. Just in the last five years, numerous impactful articles in prestigious business and management journals have been cited more than 2,800 times, putting him among the world's most influential scholars in the field. His 2009 article "Why do Chinese firms tend to acquire strategic assets in international expansion?" has generated citation of more than 1,100 times and his most recent work on cultural and innovative aspects of emerging economies makes pioneering contributions to the research stream. In addition, Dr. Deng has been interviewed and highlighted by and/or quoted in influential media in the world and international organizations, including Washington Post, New York Times, Financial Times, USA TODAY, Fortune magazine, Associated Press, World Bank, and UNCTAD.

In the past two decades, Dr. Deng has established a strong track-record of academic leadership success. As the Monte Ahuja Chair, he conducts exemplary academic outreach that has enhanced CSU's visibility nationally and globally. For instance, Dr. Deng has developed a robust visiting scholar program, which has attracted more than thirty (30) doctorial students, professors, and deans from prestigious universities in the world; the program has generated cumulative funding of more than US$1 million to support both CSU and visitors¿ institutions in a broad range of international collaborations and engagements, leading to a dozen of articles published in prestigious journals.
 
Honors and Awards:
The Monte Ahuja Endowed Chair of Global Business (2013-2018; renewed for a 2nd term of five years, 2018-2023) "the highest honor that can be accorded to a member of the professorate" at Cleveland State University, Cleveland, OH, reflecting outstanding contributions for an extended period of time with national and international recognition.

Google Scholar: My research, often as a solo author, has been cited more than 2,800 times in the last five years and with a cumulative citation of 5,187 times (as of 04/2023).

ResearchGate: My Research Interest Score of 3,557 is higher than 98% of ResearchGate members and also higher than 99% of researchers with work related to Business Administration; and the reads/downloads of my publications have surpassed 136,000 times.
