Brief Bio:
David Hicks is a contemporary figurative artist with an exclusive focus on multi-figure compositions. His large-scale figure drawings explore interconnectedness in human relationships, consider cause and effect, probe deeper into identity, and question our contemporary notions of human independence and autonomy. Heavily influenced by the old masters and Russian Academic drawing techniques, Hicks strives for a masterful drawing of each individual figure. This detailed approach at the minutest levels results in a visually arresting, epic expression for his larger finished compositions.

Hicks exhibits his drawings nationally, internationally, and regionally on a frequent basis. His work has been shown in India, and in multiple states in the USA. Recent group exhibitions include Drawing from Perception, Invention, and Memory at Wright State University, Dayton, OH, the 2nd International Contemporary Art in Realism Exhibition at 3 Square Art Gallery, Fort Collins, Colorado, and the 38th International Print and Drawing Exhibition at Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois. Solo exhibitions include at Holy Family University, Philadelphia, PA, Herron School of Art and Design, Indianapolis, IN, Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall, MN, and Sinclair Community College, Dayton, Ohio.
