Brief Bio:
Emily Guthe is a Board Certified Music Therapist and Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice at Cleveland State University. Professor Guthe has worked as a medical music therapist for the Cleveland Clinic since 2016. Her clinical expertise includes adults and pediatric patients with co-morbid medical and behavioral health conditions; patients, and families in Hillcrest's family maternity center (labor & delivery, antepartum, & NICU); and adult intensive care.

NICU:
Professor Guthe developed the neonatal music therapy program in the neonatal intensive care unit at Hillcrest Hospital in 2016. In 2021, she became the PI for a research study investigating the impact of music therapy interventions for infants receiving retinopathy of prematurity eye screening examinations versus those receiving standard nursing care. This study is currently in active data analysis and being supported by neonatology.

Behavioral Health:
Professor Guthe has worked closely with pediatric and adult patients with nutritional insufficiency diagnoses, mood disorders, and personality disorders during inpatient medical and behavioral hospitalizations.
