I launched the effort to bring the 2017 SACRPH National Conference on Planning History to Cleveland. I invited Stephanie Ryberg Webster in the Levin College to join me in co-chairing this effort. SACRPH approved our proposal at its 2015 conference. We negotiated and secured a hotel contract in early spring 2016 and constituted a four-person steering committee that met in mid-spring 2016. We assembled the full committee in March 2016 and met approximately monthly through October 2017, in addition to considerable additional business conducted via email. The responsibility became intensive in the two weeks leading up to and through the conference.
