Description
I am one of six members of the core team that created a new journal, Community Organizing Journal. We are an international group of scholars brought together initially through the Brown Community Organizing Initiative. We have received start-up funding from Cleveland State University and Clark University. This is the first journal dedicated to community organizing that includes peer-reviewed articles. I also serve on the Editorial Board and as co-editor and co-author of the signature article for issue 1, "The Scholarship and Practice of Community Organizing An Assessment, Vision, and Call to Action," (https://doi.org/10.71057/s3226469), which was published in March 2025 (https://organizingjournal.net/index.php/COJ/issue/view/1). The core team has established the journal, issued a call for papers, held 'office hours' for new authors, and is acting collectively as Editor. We received and distributed for review by our Editorial Board members 35 submissions for our first three issues, scheduled for online publication in 2024 and 2025 The core team then read the submissions and reviews, and decided on and provided feedback for each submission. For the manuscripts submitted for issue 1, my co-editor and 1 assigned reviews read them, and provided decisions and feedback to prospective authors. We were very hands-on in this process, guiding several authors through multiple revisions, and holding online conversations with several authors to help them revise their manuscripts.| Period | 2021 → 2024 |
