Description

Melissa Arnold (Museum Technician, Cuyahoga Valley National Park) called me on behalf of the U.S. Department of Interior to analyze an adult human skull and mandible that was turned over to them for curation in 1984. Melissa’s backround confirmed that the bones cane from, or near, the Vaughn Site. My analysis confirmed that the bones represented a prehistoric Native American male who was approximately 30 to 35 years of age at time of death. No indication of cause of death was indicated in the bones. It was recommended that the bones be reinterred locally near or at the Vaughn Site, and that Native American representatives be invited to direct and participate in the ritual. March, 2011.
