Description
On February 21, 2024 I completed a review of proposed graduate course work within the content area of Applied Behavior Analysis. The review was requested by Dean Brian Yusko and was submitted ahead of the deadline date. My blind-review document which was forwarded to the CCGS (requesting agency) appears below. General Thoughts The UC program is well thought out and will be of benefit to graduate students who are interested in ABA. A noteworthy feature of the UC program is that there is a practitioner grad program as well as a grad program that will meet the criteria needed to sit for the qualifying examination. Two programs will meet the needs of a variety of graduate students. Also, the ability to switch from degree to degree and BCBA certification early on the program will allow flexibility for those who want to pursue becoming a Certificant. Below are comments that have been provided to improve the proposal document. Comments: Page 2 Primary target audience … Bachelor’s degree in a related field needs clarification (provide guidance and/or examples) Page 2 Primary target audience Provide details related to “Agreement from BCBA credentialed supervisor …” (provide guidance as to what you mean by Agreement) Page 3 Institutional Planning for the Program Under No. 1 Second sentence lacks clarity Page 6 Top of page Additional information is needed on the professional portfolio (although it is discussed later, a brief introduction is needed) Page 24 Needs a heading to acclimate (at top of page) This content can be likened unto a “rapid topic change” so add in a heading Page 24 and following pages - Consider updating the years related to the data presented (i.e., some reporting from 2022 etc.) Page 26 Middle of page 20230 should be 2023 Page 27 Listing of similar positions (e.g., Mental Health Counselor) is presented, there are some available sources of information on BCBA average salaries so consider updating to better fit the proposal Page 37 SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION FORM In general, rework to align with bulleted items, the BCBA field supervisor role needs additional details and clarification think in terms of: hours per week, specific responsibilities for BCBA field supervisor, pay (or not) for the BCBA field supervisor, monitoring adherence to policies and procedures of field site agency/school/organization; clarification is also needed for UC students who are placed in the field including criminal background checks, hours and details associated with the field related seminar course, in general rework and add in relevant details| Period | 2023 → … |
