Description

As part of the Society for Qualitative Inquiry in Psychology (SQIP), which is within Division 5, Section 3, of the American Psychological Association (APA), I have been chair of the SQIP Ethics Committee. Our focus was to engage SQIP members in discussions on the topic of ethics as it relates to qualitative research. On May 16, 2016, I presented in a symposium at the Society for Qualitative Inquiry in Psychology. Our SQIP Ethics Task Force was also charged with proposing amendments to the APA Ethics Code. On April 19, 2017, the SQIP Ethics Task Force submitted its response of the APA Ethics Committee call for appraisals of the current Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct and recommendations for changes in the Code, and in 2018 our work will be featured in an APA Collaborative Session with colleagues across multiple divisions. In August 2017, I was recruited for the Executive Committee of SQIP, and have served as treasurer since then.
