Description

a. Maintaining a record of available research projects (both for a pay and credit) for undergraduates b. Advising students on the available research projects via personal advise and via public SPS events such as early January/February meeting on REU, NASA, DOE, CSU research opportunities. c. Maintaining the record of undergraduate research achievements via maintaining the list of presentations and publications, public postings, public award displays, web pages d. Promoting achievements of undergraduates in research via email blasts to students, faculty, alumni and administration and via public student research award ceremonies at the SPS meetings. e. Organizing regular research presentations by undergrads at the SPS seminar, various CSU poster sessions, and SPS poster session. f. Organizing regular short presentations by physics and engineering faculty on research projects available for undergraduate students both through academic year and in the summer. g. Organizing Summer Undergraduate Research Seminar at the Physics Dept h. Advising and encouraging students to present their research at professional conferences through Society of Physics Students, American Physical Society, American Chemical Society, American Association of Physics Teachers, Women in Physics conferences, Ohio Academy of Sciences, etc. i. Encouraging student to simply attend physics conferences in particular Conferences for Undergraduate women in Physics and SPS Zone meeting. j. Advising students in the application process for travel awards to professional meetings k. Chaperoning delegation of CSU students at the annual American Physical Society March Meeting (every year since 2006), which is the largest physics conference in the country l. Organizing the undergraduate poster judging at the COSHP research Day (April) and Summer Undergraduate Poster Session (Sept)
