Biography

Carole Heyward is a Senior Clinical Professor of Law at Cleveland State University’s College of Law.  She also serves as the Faculty Director of the David H. Braff Animal Law Center.  In addition to teaching in the Transactional Law and Animal Law Clinics, she also teaches Contracts, Negotiation Skills, Transactional Lawyering Skills, and supervises students in the Law School’s Externship Program. 

Professor Heyward began her legal career as an associate at a private law firm that focused on complex civil litigation and white-collar criminal defense.  She has also served as an Assistant Law Director in a municipal law department and as the General Counsel for non-profit civil rights advocacy organizations.  She began teaching in 2003. She is admitted to practice in the State of Ohio and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
