Biography

Emily Jennings, MS, CCC-SLP is a clinical assistant professor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Department within the College of Health at Cleveland State University (CSU), located in Cleveland, Ohio.

She has a passion for individualized clinical education and evidence-based person-centered care.

Prior to joining the full-time faculty at CSU, Prof. Jennings worked as a senior clinical speech-language pathologist (SLP) and clinical educator at Cleveland Clinic - Euclid Hospital.

She teaches a variety of courses including foundational undergraduate (Phonetics, Introduction to Communication Disorders, Anatomy and Physiology) and graduate courses (Motor Speech Disorders, Research in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Cognitive Rehabilitation, Medical Speech-Language Pathology). 

Prof. Jennings facilitates graduate student acquisition of knowledge, competency, and clinical skills by mentoring and supervising graduate student clinicians in CSU’s Speech and Hearing Clinic. Services include both individual and group therapy sessions delivered face-to-face and/or via teletherapy.

She currently serves as the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, CSD Honors Program Coordinator, and Faculty Advisor to CSU’s chapter of the National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association. Prof. Jennings represents the College of Health at CSU Faculty Senate and Academic Steering Committee.

Areas of interest and expertise: acquired neurological cognitive and communication disorders, aphasia, hypokinetic dysarthria and hypophonia associated with Parkinson's Disease, traumatic brain injury (from mild-severe), interprofessional collaboration and supervision, compassionate clinical education, and real-world application of evidence-based assessment and intervention in speech-language pathology.
