Biography
I am a Professor and Associate Dean in the Washkewicz College of Engineering of Cleveland State University. As Associate Dean since 2009, I have been in charge of a variety of educational and operational initiatives and tasks. They have included strategic planning, new program and curriculum development, faculty affairs, ABET accreditation, cooperative education and other experiential learning, student recruitment and retention, fund-raising and marketing, research administration, financial operations, and facilities management. I place particular emphasis on the integration of engineering and sciences with liberal arts, for the development of the whole person. From July 2023 until June 2025, I also served as the Interim Chair of the new Department of Computer Science and, from 2006 to 2009, I was the Director of Applied Biomedical Engineering, a joint doctoral program between Cleveland State and the Cleveland Clinic. As a faculty, I have collaborated with physicians and scientists from the Cleveland Clinic on research in cardiovascular fluid mechanics and medical imaging, and I developed and taught undergraduate and graduate courses in a variety of areas, including transport phenomena, fluid mechanics, medical imaging, signal processing, biostatistics, and computer programming.
