Grant Details

Description

This project has three components. First CSU Dance students and faculty advisors Lynn Deering and DeAndra Stone will research, investigate, and participate in Community-based Dance Training with Professor Amie Dowling. In addition to this training, the CSU Dance students in collaboration with faculty advisors will develop a curriculum of dance activities for weekly classes with the ECNC youth.  In the second component the dance students will engage with the ECNC young people in their community center one day per week as well as assist in the choreography for culminating performance. While at the community center the CSU Dance students will work directly with Colleen Clark, the ECNC Prevention Program Coordinator and dance artist on best practices from the Positive Action curriculum. The third component of this project is the archiving of Community-based Dance Training Seminar and the weekly ECNC youth dance classes by the dance students (two of these students are also pursuing a major in Film and Media Arts) through videography to create an artistic product representing this community engagement creative activity.
