Description
The project proposed leverages the individual expertise of the involved research groups in fluid dynamics modeling, microfluidics design and microreactors, to develop a new methodology for promoting fluid mixing on the microscale. Mixing elements relying on extensional flows, as opposed to shear flows, are developed and optimized. This has the potential to be more energetically efficient and reduce the complexity of the structures that need to be microfabricated.
