Description
Cleveland has a rich history in the development of modern dance over the previous decades and as much of dance is only lived in the here and now; the collective knowledge and artistic skills of many dancers and choreographers have only been shared with those who have been viewers of their live performances or have studied with the artists. This project offers the opportunity via digital documentation to explore the approaches and purposes of a choreographer and dancers in the creative process. The resulting digital piece will in itself be a creative product. It will be an artistic expression of the creative process of one the many influential dance artists connected to Northeast Ohio. This in turn will serve to provide techniques and insights as to how to design the larger undertaking of creating a digital archive of the many dance artists that have ties to both CSU and the greater dance community. All material created will also be used as educational resources for CSU students in dance coursework and provide seed material for the creation of new works of choreography by CSU dance faculty and students.
