Description
The research team is requesting the use of Angel funds of $18,777 to conduct a pilot project in which the team will establish a research protocol in collaboration with the VNA of Cleveland to assess patient fall risk in the home using the Steady™ app. The research team has already had several meetings with the VNA administration and staff to demonstrate the Steady™ app, gather recommendations from the VNA staff and discuss possible research partnerships. The presentations were well received and many informative suggestions were made by the staff. The research team is now ready to move forward with a small implementation pilot to test the usability and functionality of the Steady™ app with elders in the home under the care of the VNA. Two nurses employed at VNA will be recruited and trained as champions of this project. In addition, one data manager at the VNA will be recruited to assist with retrieval of clinical data from the EMR to populate the research dataset. This project will establish a research team collaborative with a corporate entity, and provide preliminary data to guide future research. This will also test the protocol and procedure to be proposed in larger future research grants (1R21NR017763-01)
