Description
Cleveland, Ohio: The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University announced receipt of a $249 000 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to study the impact of strategic public and private investments in low and moderate communities called “middle neighborhoods” in select Midwest Legacy Cities.
This research project builds on what has been learned from the City of Cleveland’s Middle Neighborhoods Initiative (MNI) which supports communities on the edge of distress while simultaneously developing stable communities that can provide affordable and quality housing for a diverse range of household incomes. Cleveland’s goal is to produce equitable mixed income communities by targeting middle neighborhoods with investments that respond to their unique challenges in tandem with strategies to create housing for low and moderate income households. This strategy is now being adopted in communities across the country.
