Abstract
In a competition, this presentation came in first (1st) place in the undergraduate Math and Computer Science category. Sara Aly and Michael Rosario were students involved in a summer National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (NSF REU) program at CSU. Dr. Hongkai Yu (Computer Science, CSU) and I were the project mentors. Here is the poster abstract:"Motion capture systems are commonly used to further progress in the fields of rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology by studying body movement in the able-bodied and those with disabilities. However, the exorbitant price of whole-body motion-capture systems can hinder research progress, especially when the research only requires assessment of just the hand. In that case, smaller-scale, less-expensivetechnology might suffice. Our goal was to then build a more accessible and portable system to study finger motion."
