The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest professional organization of special education teachers in North America and is the Specialized Professional Association (SPA) for special education teacher preparation accreditation. Researchers, teacher preparation faculty, and related service providers also participate in the organization. The annual conference is the largest national conference to focus specifically on individuals with disabilities and special education in the United States or Canada.
