Abstract

This paper discusses the implementation of a basic Music-Player app designed for the Android platform. The project's learning goal is to facilitate, through a non-trivial case, the understanding of three new classes used in the development of multi-threaded solutions. The targeted classes are called Foreground Services, Notifications, and BroadcastReceivers. We believe that this 'real-life' project provides the instructor with an opportunity to introduce the Foreground Service pattern. The project seems to resonate well with the student's experience using similar apps on their smartphones.
