During the spring 2019 semester, I was chosen to participate as a Learning Community participant within a faculty development opportunity titled Gateway Courses Faculty Learning Community. I was chosen via a competitive application process to participate due to the fact that I teach a number of introductory courses as well as initial courses within our specialization area of Special Education. As a participant I was a stipend recipient. The Learning Community was coordinated by the Center for Faculty Excellence. As a result of my participation, I am enhancing my courses by incorporating additional evidence-based instructional instructional strategies as well as communicating research-validated studying and retention/recall strategies that benefit university students.
