Abstract

This presentation will examine the many cinematic and film variations of Colette's novella, Gigi. It will focus on those aspects of the original narrative that were transformed for a different genre or for an English-speaking and/or modern audience. It will argue that the original story continues to be relevant to modern viewers in ways that Colette, who was involved with stage and film adaptations from early in her career, may have anticipated.
