Decolonizing Mental Health: Moving Clients Toward Liberation and Healing

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaper

Abstract

Western forms of well-being that center individualistic perspectives, ignore cultural dynamics, and overlook systemic forms of oppression are strategies when supporting people of the global majority (PGM) clients. This engaging session empowers attendees with the awareness, knowledge, and skills necessary to adopt new perspectives, endorse culturally responsive frameworks, and decolonize mental health frameworks. Attendees will learn evidence-based and culturally embedded strategies to enhance self-nourishment and collective healing.
