Abstract

Dreamhood is a feature length documentary film, which examines life in the International Village neighborhood in Cleveland, OH. Thomas Jefferson International Newcomers Academy serves as an anchor for immigrants and refugees in the neighborhood. The film captures the transformation of a community as the neighborhood is revitalized and a community continues to grow in terms of size and diversity. The film follows the recent arrivals as well as long-time residents, as well as activists, politicians, and community organizers. The overarching project objective is to provide a forum for the complex yet relatable story of the refugee communities in Cleveland. Role: Director of Photography. We have been working with local organizations, including Global Cleveland and Us Together for story access. The project was awarded $7,000 from the Cleveland Foundation / The City of Cleveland’s Cable Television Minority Arts and Education Fund. The film is anticipated tol be completed in late 2018 or early 2019.
