Abstract
This chapter investigates the projections that occur on some Benin Kingdom crowns, as well as on those of selected chiefs and priests. It considers the evidence of which dynasty originated the projections, how historical tensions in the sixteenth-century affected the herbs used in the medicines that activate it, and the nature of secrecy in ritual dress.
