Abstract
This invited presentation examines the first archaeological vignette used on Mexican paper money (1888) and explores how it was employed to help forge a new national "imaginary" (image-base) that for the first time included and celebrated Mexico's native identity. Proposal abstract and bibliography submitted for peer review and approved, attached here. Imagery scanned and assembled into PowerPoint and text developed. Delivered in August, 2014. PDF of final PowerPoint also attached.
