Exploring relationships between teacher training and support strategies for students utilizing AAC

Abstract

The Journal of International Special Needs Education is published by the Division of International Special Education and Services of the Council for Exceptional Children, the Special Education professional organization. This journal publishes original research and literature reviews on education and related services for students with disabilities. Dr. Andzik, Northern Illinois University, and I collaborated on a large survey of special education teachers working with students with communication impairments typically related to intellectual and developmental disabilities. The survey was the original idea of Dr. Andzik. We created the survey together, we planned the distribution method together, and she was in charge of distributing the survey. Mr. Nichols, Ohio State University, and I collaborated to do the statistical analysis. Dr. Andzik and I evenly split writing the original manuscript. Dr. Cannella-Malone, Ohio State University, assisted in revising the manuscript for publication.
