Abstract

Mission: Engaging audiences with independent films that celebrate diversity. Vision: To offer a year-round cultural resource for our community through monthly screenings, discussions, and events that will enrich the quality of social life, support youth education, and contribute to the vibrant art culture in the Monadnock Region. The Monadnock International Film Festival is a four-day event held every April that showcases high quality independent cinema from filmmakers here at home and around the world. MONIFF offers feature length narrative and documentary films as well as shorts, and gives audiences the opportunity to interface with filmmakers and industry experts through post screening Q&A’s and lively panel discussions. Approximately 150 films where submitted and 17 features and 22 short films were screened, including film from countries around the world, such as Cameroon, France, Greece, Honduras, Kenya, Lebanon and Slovakia. After the screening there was a panel to discuss the film. The panel was moderated by Susan Hay, Founder of the Keene Immigrant and Refugee Partnership (KIRP), and featured Joe Schapiro (KIRP), Director Cigdem Slankard and Director of Photography Mark Slankard.
