Abstract
The introductory chapter surveys the historical development of organizational leadership communication as a dialectical-dialogic process. It reveals how the scholarship evolves and expands through continuous paradigmatic shifts in which communication emerges gradually as metadiscourse that supplies rich theoretical and practical accounts of leadership. To help orient readers, the introductory chapter also establishes the aim and structure of the handbook and provides a preview of the chapters that follow. To conclude, the chapter envisions several directions for the future research of organizational leadership communication.
