Abstract
The Fertile Crescent is a region in Western Asia. It includes the regions of Mesopotamia and the Levant. Due to its unique climate, it gave rise to many edible plants that could be cultivated and animal species such as cows, sheep, and goats that could be domesticated. This unique ecosystem led to the emergence of complex societies and cultures, earning this region the nickname “The Cradle of Civilization.” Most of the societies and cultures that were formed in this region emphasized a system of beliefs or religions that associated the good fortunes of its members with supernatural protectors or gods. Those were represented in the form of statues and temples. When one tribe or kingdom was conquered by another, they would typically force the other tribe to adopt their gods, culture, and system of beliefs.
