Abstract

Below is the advertisement posed on the center for urban educations website. Research Colloquium on Thursday, April 13 The Center for Urban Education at CSU will host its next research colloquium on Thursday, April 13 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., entitled “Mental Health Promotion and Prevention in Schools.” Presenters include Dr. Sue Bazyk, Professor of Occupational Therapy at CSU and Dr. Shereen Naser, Assistant Professor of Psychology at CSU. Dr. Bazyk will discuss her initiative Every Moment Counts, implemented in schools across the country, which involves embedding mental health promotion strategies throughout the school day. Dr. Naser will discuss universal screening for early identification of student behavioral and emotional risk, as well as her innovative work involving social and emotional learning in schools with an emphasis on helping children gain agency by empowering them to engage in social change. The colloquium will be held in room 225 of the Center for Innovation in Medical Professions on CSU Campus. Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP here if you plan to attend. The Center colloquium series is intended to foster conversation about research in urban education and provide an opportunity for CSU faculty and students to present their research.
