Abstract
This presentation will trace educational lineage from the original music therapy educators to present-day educators. It will then detail the educational development of the current music therapy instructors and their qualifications in the field of music therapy and other areas of specialization. Discussion regarding training, assessment, and accountability of music therapy educators will be included. Assessment and accountability are “hot topics” in higher education and have an impact on the futures of professors and instructors. Discussion of hiring educators and the AMTA required qualifications of those educators will take place. Further discussion regarding how the potential of MLE may affect higher education in music therapy will be included also, time allotting.
