Abstract
Media outlets frequently describe many instances of managers or leaders of organizations, educational institutions and even countries who engage in unethical leadership practices that may result in unfortunate outcomes to all those affected by their actions. Although much has been researched and written about reflective leadership and management skills, leading to the development of models and theories, questions still remain concerning how leaders develop ethical principles or moral guidelines that guide their leadership practices . From a critical theory point of view, this chapter addresses reflective and ethical challenges in leadership and management and explores concepts, theories, and models of leadership and management, including an examination ethical and reflective leadership theories and practice. Leadership development, principles, ethics and ethical practices are discussed. The chapter concludes with research and models regarding ethical leadership concepts in organizations and educational institutions suggestions for future research to inform reflective management and leadership practice.
