Abstract
The current study examines Ibn Habib’s use of noble matrilineal genealogies to categorize of Muslim caliphs from the Rashidun to the Abbasid periods. The article first analyzes Ibn Habib’s models of noble matrilineal lineages and then investigate the impact of these concepts on his presentation of Islamic caliphate.
