Abstract

This study analyzes the significance of integrating renewable energy in emerging urban areas that are highly supported for sustainability. Leveraging technology controls the impact of the environment and supports the advancement of urban life. An overview of the issues facing urban areas is given at the beginning of the chapter, including managing energy, reducing carbon emissions, and meeting public sector energy demands. Artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and other intelligent integration techniques can significantly enhance the use of renewable energy. Moreover, this chapter highlights numerous case studies of smart integration of renewable energy in urban areas by implanting IoT-enabled smart grids, AI-based energy management, and abundant data-recorded management for urban development. It also provides an overview of the regulation and control of energy demand by technology-and data-driven methods to advance energy efficiency and environmental impact.
