Abstract
Physical Therapist (PT) and Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) communication and role delineation is the key to effective treatment in a clinical setting. Prior to graduation from PT or PTA programs, there are typically few opportunities for PT and PTA students to build relationships. Academic programs should focus on bridging the gap in understanding of the paraprofessional scope of practice to foster leadership and collaboration. The purpose of this education session is to discuss the importance of PT-PTA collaboration during academic training and outline an innovative method for this educational opportunity. The workshop will explore how student PT and PTA colleagues can create a partnership as they transition to a professional setting.
