The Writing Gallery (see description and attachments)

Although this site is no longer available, NCTE sponsored a two-year Writing Gallery online where pre-service and in-service teachers were encouraged to submit writing for the membership to review. I selected the three women (above) -- McGory, Kossman & Toivonen (who were language arts students in my methods class) as examples of excellent writing. The assignment (called The Drawer Assignment) was for students to go through one drawer in their house that was theirs and theirs alone and draw some conclusions about what they found using all their senses. All of their writing samples were accepted (as was mine), giving students the opportunity to see their own creations in print in our national learned society's Writing Gallery. We received terrific feedback from members and I do hope NCTE does this again. I have included my original handout plus the three women's papers as they were sent to me (and before clean up).
