Abstract
This research investigates the impact of value alignment on physician resistance to electronic health record systems (EHRS) through the reduction of perceived threat to professional autonomy and perceived changes in work processes. Analyses of data collected from 104 US physicians using SmartPLS reveal that value alignment (i) directly impacts resistance to EHRS, (ii) influences resistance to EHRS use by reducing the perceived threat to professional autonomy, and (iii) influences perceived changes in work processes. Overall, our research holds significant promise for theory and practice and has the potential to become foundational for future research on mitigating resistance to IT use.
